OVERVIEW - MEDIA ART

America’s first Artist-in-Residence at a National Historic Landmark Cemetery. Funding from national, state, municipal and private sources. Extensive press coverage.

Digital multimedia artist residency at Harvard Forest ecological institute culminating in 5-channel video/audio installation. Projection and Sound Design Collaborations with theatrical troupes from inner-city venues to Harvard University. In development: video art/Virtual Reality/interactive projects on mass incarceration and aging.

Professional practice in multimedia art, emergent media and digital filmmaking, including digital video, sound design, timelapse, immersive projections, computer-controlled multi-channel multimedia installation, online interactivity, fine art photography, music composition, production and recording.

OVERVIEW - FILMMAKING

Screenwriter, director, cinematographer and editor of “Peach Pie” narrative short film - about  urban family coping with mental illness and war trauma. Official Selection at California International Shorts Festival and Atlanta’s Urban Mediamakers Film Festival.

Fellowships from National Black Programming Consortium and National Association of Latino Independent Producers. Art-documentary short screened at National Science Foundation headquarters. Documentary series of brief film profiles on prominent and emerging artists. Collaboration with Nipmuc American Indian tribe and University of Massachusetts/Amherst Architecture Department.

OVERVIEW - TEACHING

Currently Adjunct Professor in Visual & Media Arts at Emerson College. Courses at Graduate and Undergraduate levels. Modify and develop new curricula and syllabi as needed.  Multiple honors and certificates. Primary interest: Media Art from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Instructor in digital nonlinear video editing at American Graphics Institute. Author/Host online e-learning digital video editing course by Wiley Digital Publishing. Instructor at Boston University College of Communication. Teacher of private workshops.

Artist in Residence, Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge MA

2014 - 2016    

Appointed the first Artist-in-Residence in the history of 184-year old Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA - a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Created earth.sky - a transmedia project involving video, sound design, interactive video-embedded GPS mapping, fine art photography, online and site-specific digital multimedia. The project relates to 19th century funerary iconography, spirituality and landscape. Subjects include an escaped slave; gay and lesbian couples; an Iranian child psychologist; a Civil War-era mental health reformer; abolitionists, and several others.

        Worked with municipal departments to prepare competitive

proposals for large scale video art/online interactive multimedia

        Projects.
